Sad to say that Fr. Alois has been appointed back to Bavaria (Germany) from this August after four years here in the parish of St Teresa’s. Fr. Alois has made a wonderful contribution to the life of the parish during these years and will be greatly missed. During these years he has put his personal, special and unique skills at the disposal of the parish, from which we have all benefited. Hopefully, restrictions will be such in July that they will allow for a fitting parish event to mark Fr. Alois’s time here and his return to Bavaria.

He returns to Passau (Bavaria) to take up pastoral ministry in the Votivkirche (an Inner City Church) and in the Marist school in Fürstenzell.

In both Ireland and Germany, the ministry needs remain great while at the same time personnel resources to meet those needs are increasingly limited, resulting in ministries and communities being reduced to take account of this.  This summer the Marists in Ireland are withdrawing from ministry in Holy Family Parish, Dundalk, Co. Louth.

So, sad news now for St. Teresa’s but also a sense of gratitude for how the parish has been blessed by Fr. Alois’s presence with us for the past four years.
