The Easter Triduum of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday, is the central liturgy of this Holy Week. It is at the heart of our Christian Faith. These three days are essentially one service (or Liturgy). It begins on Holy Thursday with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper and only ends on Holy Saturday night after the Easter Vigil. All the services in-between finish without the usual blessing. The Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Thursday, morning prayer, Stations of the Cross, the Good Friday celebration of the Passion of Jesus Christ, all finish without the usual blessing and, in some cases, in silence. The Easter Vigil begins in silence and ends with the joyful acknowledgement of the Risen Christ.

Each service during the Triduum is a continuation of the story and events of Holy Week. The morning prayer on Friday and Saturday grounds us at the start of the day in the realities we are celebrating. That is why being part of each event helps us celebrate the entirety of the Easter story of the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus.
