Fifty days after his Resurrection, the Lord sent the Holy Spirit down from heaven upon his disciples. On the Feast of Pentecost, we celebrate the beginning of the Church; when Peter spoke, all people of all nations heard the gospel in their own language.  We too are called to bring the peace and gospel of Christ to the whole world.

 Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Come Holy Spirit fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.  Sent forth your Spirit and they shall be created.  And you shall renew the face of the earth.

Let us pray, O God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit did instruct the hearts of the faithful.  Grant that, by thy same Holy Spirit, we may be ever truly wise and ever rejoice in his consolation, through Christ, Our Lord. Amen
