There is an appointed time for everything, a time to be born and a time to die (Eccl 3).
November, the month traditionally known as the month of the Holy Souls, offers us a prayerful time to remember our deceased loved ones who have gone to share the glory of the risen Christ. As Christians our pain of severance and loss is always tempered by our hope in the resurrection promised by our Saviour. Our funeral Mass is full of that hope, even as we commend our loved one’s soul to the merciful heart of God.
In this special month of remembering, may we remember all of our loved ones gone before us marked with the sign of faith, in a spirit of thankfulness and hope as our common faith binds us as one body in Christ.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, may they rest in peace. Amen
