Donore Avenue Parish uses a parish-based programme of preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion called Do This In Memory.  The programme is designed as a means of helping the child, their parents/guardians and family and the wider parish community to become actively involved in the preparation for these sacraments.

Do This In Memory is centred in the parish celebration of the Sunday Eucharist and in the home.  The preparation programme consists of a number of Masses, typically one per month, starting with an enrolment Mass. The purpose of the enrolment Mass is to introduce the children and families who have registered for the sacraments to the wider community.  The remaining Masses of the programme focus on different aspects of the faith journey that the families are engaged in while preparing for the sacraments.

The programme complements and supports the work of sacramental preparation in the parish school or the religious education programme in the parish.

The programme takes place once a month for eight months during Special Masses before First Eucharist and concludes during the parish celebration of the Feast of Corpus Christi.

The parents/guardians and families of the children preparing for First Eucharist are invited to actively participate during the Masses. A group of parents/guardians meet once a month to plan and coordinate the next Mass of the programme.
